Traffic Rule Story

I was about to finish my shopping, when I saw him excited, cheerful, he must be in his twenties, talking to the shopkeeper. “Please pack this one and that too, today I got my first salary… so thought to buy saree for my mom.” Shopkeeper asked “so you will have a party tonight?”

Boy: “ no, not today I will have a party with friends on the weekend, today I have lots of work, have to buy gift for my younger sister… then have to go home pick mom and take her to visit temple… but I am sure mom is definitely cooking halwa for me…”

After hearing this I realize I have a smile on my face… he  reminded me of my first pay cheque, and those smiles which came when I had done something independently for the first time… he is like any other young boy in a hurry, busy in own thoughts, happy and excited with the new beginning…

I came home happy…

On the other day I was just flipping the pages of newspaper… when something caught my attention… it was the picture of the same boy, in the obituary column… I was sadden … I was speechless… he died in an accident, I read the content below realize I ignored the same news on  the front page, I rush and flip the pages again read the whole story… the boy met with an accident on the same day I saw him…

The words which shudders me were his father’s words “if he was wearing a helmet, he would have alive.”
Obey traffic rules, respect lives… somewhere, somebody is waiting for you…
